H. R. Brereton (Gubby) Barlow served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Premera Blue Cross from 2000 – 2014. The Premera family of companies provides healthcare coverage and related services to more than 1.9 million people in Washington, Alaska, and Oregon.

Mr. Barlow also served as CFO of Health Net, the major subsidiary of Health Systems International, a $3.1 billion HMO with 2 million members in six western states, and AHI Healthcare Systems Inc., a primary and specialty care provider network. Prior to these positions, Mr. Barlow was a partner at Deloitte Touche.

Mr. Barlow currently serves on the boards of directors of Sutter Health, First Sound Bank, Implantable Provider Group (IPG), Inc. and the University of Washington School of Nursing.

Mr. Barlow previously served on the boards of directors of the Emeritus Corporation, Premera Blue Cross, National Institute for Health Care Management, Washington Healthcare Forum, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Association and the University of Washington Foster School of Business.

A native of South Africa, Mr. Barlow holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
